Introuction
A muffler, also known as a silencer is mostly a device that is used to reduce the amount of noise/sound that is made by the exhausts of internal combustion system engines. The mufflers are usually installed within an exhaust system, although it is not designed to serve as any primary function of exhausts. The latter is also engineered in a way that it acts as an acoustic soundproof device mostly designed so as the decrease the noise of the sound pressure that is released by the engine. Most of the noise that is generated by the engine comes out of the car through the same pipe that is used by the mufflers. The mufflers works in such a way that the noise goes through a series of pipes and chambers that are tuned harmonically and thus causing a destructive interference where opposing sound waves can cancel each other. There are however sometimes some unavoidable sound effects which may decreased the engine efficiency due to the increase pressure onto the back of the muffler. Most car owners or even that of any vehicle will remove and install aftermarket mufflers and tune it so as to decrease fuel consumption as well as to reduce the effect of gases onto the environment.
Now that you know a bit about mufflers, let’s start reviewing those high flow mufflers below.
